Couples Therapy & Marriage Counseling in Las Vegas & Summerlin

Strengthening & Healing Relationships

Get Started

I fundamentally believe that relationships and marriage should be fun. Think back to when you were first dating, when falling in love was so natural. You probably enjoyed each other. I imagine you had fun, you laughed, you dreamed, you talked, you dated and had adventures and new experiences together.

But then life happened. You grew up. You maybe had kids, maybe some more schooling, jobs, bills and stress. Fun and flirtation were probably replaced by responsibility and survival. If you’ve disconnected over the years or hurt feelings and resentments are getting in the way of you really enjoying your relationship, couples therapy and counseling can help.

We’ll dig through the sources of disconnection and pain, including intimacy if needed. We’ll also talk about who you are today—what you need now to feel loved and connected. It’s a journey that will help improve your relationship!

The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.

Why couples therapy and marriage counseling?

I often use an analogy of a “love bank”. When the relationship is new you’re filling up each other’s love banks with tons of deposits. You spend hours talking, you are agreeable and easy going, and you gladly do what the other person likes doing. Physical intimacy was probably passionate and frequent, and you tried hard to put your best foot forward. There’s so much good going in, the annoying traits you both have or the small disagreements barely make a dent in your relationship.

For example, if you have $10,000 in your bank account and you’re getting regular deposits you might not even notice if someone came along and stole $20. However, if you’ve only got $21 in your bank account and someone steals that same $20, it’s going to feel like a huge deal. Just like with our finances, our goal is to increase meaningful deposits and minimize unnecessary withdrawals in the relationship.

We’ll examine what some of the huge emotional setbacks have been and heal from those, but we’ll also want to talk about the here and now. What are some small, easy tweaks that you can both make to add more and take away less? And then how can we build on that and make bigger deposits and slow down the bigger, more frequent withdrawals.

If I know what love is, it is because of you.

Are you prepared for couples counseling?

Some couples don’t seek counseling until they’re emotionally bankrupt. If that’s where you are, don’t worry. We can deal with that and we can get you love “rich” again. But please know that it will take YOUR hard work to turn things around. Emotionally bankrupt couples and marriages often see the massive changes their partner needs to make and feel unwilling to make a big effort themselves until they see evidence that their partner is doing so. It can be hard work to choose to let go of resentments, soften your heart and be vulnerable again. If you are ready to sincerely do that work, couples counseling can be an incredibly rewarding process. I can help you get back to joy, love and happiness with your partner.

I’d like you to earnestly ask yourself these questions about couples counseling:

Am I ready to look at and humbly accept responsibility for the pains that I have caused and my behaviors that take a toll on the relationship?

Am I ready to give this my all?

If you and your partner can both answer “yes!” then, please, contact me and let’s get started. If one or both of you answer “no”, my experience is that couples counseling right now isn’t going to be a good fit. Progress is slow, meaning it takes a lot longer and is way more expensive. And it just really isn’t fun for any of us. I’d hate for you to try counseling now when you’re in a “no” place, have it be ineffective or inefficient and then conclude that counseling doesn’t work.  If you can’t offer a whole-hearted “yes!” right now but you want to be in that willing-to-work place, let’s start with some individual sessions.

Chrissy lawler therapist in las vegas

Hi, I’m Christine Lawler.

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and I’ve been practicing therapy for almost 15 years. I have an amazing husband who I’ve been married to for 14 years, and we’ve got four darling little girls.
I love this work! Change and healing are possible, and it’s so rewarding to be in this process with you. Wherever you are feeling stuck, we can target it and find breakthroughs to make your life, your relationships, and your mental health meaningfully better. You deserve to be thriving.
I graduated from the #1 Marriage and Family Therapy program in the country. I can confidently report that my education was top notch and I am committed to providing the best possible mental health treatment available. Unfortunately, unskilled and under-educated therapists can do more harm than good and often clients have no way of discerning. Because of this, I have thrown myself into reading and taking continuing education courses from the leaders in the field. You’re in good hands– let’s dive in!
Leslie frederick therapist in las vegas | The Peaceful Mind Counseling Center

Hi, I’m Leslie Frederick.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have long had a passion for helping and serving others.

I began my career as a social worker for a local hospice.  I found great purpose in helping families navigate the unpredictable twists and turns that undoubtedly come along with the end of life for their loved ones.  After many years in hospice, I transitioned to a medical social work position in a hospital, which then led me to a Clinical Social Work Intern position in an inpatient psych hospital.  During this time, I enjoyed working with a range of individuals and families.  The vast array of cases I encountered in the hospital allowed me to gain the experience and skills needed to serve a multitude of clients.  I enjoy working with clients of all ages and believe in meeting a client where they are at in order to tailor treatment to meet their individualized needs and work towards their specific goals.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Northern Arizona University and a Masters in Social Work from UNLV. I am originally from Northwest Indiana and have lived in Las Vegas for over ten years with my husband and our three children. We love living out west and enjoy spending time traveling and exploring our neighboring states.

Hi, I’m Kim Boschee.

I’ve been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2005. Originally from the Midwest, I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology/English Literature at Illinois Wesleyan University and then finished my graduate studies in Counseling Psychology at Indiana University. I moved to Las Vegas in 2002 to complete my graduate internship, and liked it here so much, I decided to stay!

Whether you are feeling anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed, therapy is a transformative way to safely sort through these emotions. Together, we will create an action plan to promote a sense of empowerment in your life, generating improved well-being as well as sustainable changes. If doing less isn’t an option, then let’s do better.

I love working with couples, families, individuals, and adolescents from the lenses of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and the Gottman Method. My career began in the government sector and has included both agency and nonprofit arenas. Currently, I work with clients in a variety of stressful, demanding career fields including medicine/healthcare, business leadership, academia, and financial planning.

Outside of the office, you’ll find me in the mountains or on the golf course; I’ve been a member of Red Rock Search and Rescue since 2020 and am the (very proud!) mom to a competitive junior golfer. I believe in a holistic approach to life and work to weave this mindset in all areas of my life.
